Gabriella (Gaby) Aboulafia graduated from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government with an MPP in 2023. She received her BS in Public Health through the Department of Health Policy and Management at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health in 2019. Prior to graduate school, Gaby was at the Commonwealth Fund researching health insurance reform and affordability in the US and helped manage the Fund’s Health Care Coverage and Access grant portfolio. She also worked at the US Department of Health and Human Services in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Legislation in the summer of 2022. Gaby is interested in how politics shape health policy choices and how federalism creates unequal and racialized policy outcomes, particularly in coverage policy. She’s also interested in people’s perceptions of the government’s role in their lives, and the political consequences of the privatization of public insurance programs.
