PhD Candidate in Health Policy (G1, Methods for Policy Research)
Britainy Barnes received her Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University in 2019. While attending Stanford, Britainy was a Gates Millennium Scholar, an Alumni Award of Excellence recipient, and a research assistant at the Language Learning Lab. Following graduation, she spent four years at Aledade, a health-tech startup focused on helping independent primary care practices succeed in value-based care. At Aledade, Britainy worked on the policy team conducting data analysis for various Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) models including the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP), Primary Care First (PCF), and ACO Realizing Equity, Access, and Community Health (ACO REACH). Additionally, Britainy supported numerous projects including analyses on ACO benchmarking and drafting response comments to the Physician Fee Schedule. Britainy is interested in studying the impact primary care relationships have on health outcomes, and the effects of alternative payment models as cost-containment strategies.
