PhD Candidate in Health Policy (G1, Methods for Policy Research)

Julia Eddelbuettel graduated with a B.S. in Policy Analysis & Management with high honors and high distinction from the Cornell University Brooks School of Public Policy in December 2021. While at Cornell, Julia was a research assistant and lab manager of the PAM Lab, the only undergraduate research lab in her department. She also completed a senior thesis focused on the association of state-level restrictive abortion policy and unintended births, which she presented at the Population Association of America 2022 Annual Meeting. After graduation, Julia began working as a Senior Statistical Programmer Analyst with the Department of Health Policy & Management and Center for Mental Health & Addiction Policy in the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. During her time at Hopkins, Julia worked on numerous projects related to high deductible health plans and substance use disorder, the behavioral health workforce, and capital market investment in behavioral health, among other topics. Julia’s work has been published in journals such as American Journal of Health Economics, American Journal of Preventive Medicine, Medical Care, and JAMA. Julia’s research interests are at the intersection of social policy, population health, and health services research. In particular, she is interested in examining how social and health policies, ranging from social safety net expansion to restrictive reproductive health policy, impact maternal and pre/perinatal physical and mental health outcomes.
